About me

Vanessa feels extremely fortunate to work in a profession in which she can help empower patients to take an active role in their recovery and get back to what they love doing.  Her path to physiotherapy started at the University of Victoria, where an interest in the workings of organisms and a curiosity about the brain led to a major in biology and a minor in psychology. Through her undergraduate degree, Vanessa worked part time at a hospital, where she found helping people in a healthcare context to be immensely rewarding. Following her undergraduate degree, her sights narrowed on physiotherapy- a career that combined her studied interests, her desire to motivate and help others, and the value she held in leading an active lifestyle.

The decision to pursue a career in physiotherapy took Vanessa to Scotland where she completed her Masters of Science degree in Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University. Although living in the United Kingdom was a great adventure and gave her an international perspective on healthcare practice, Vanessa was excited to return to and serve her hometown of Victoria.  Since completing the program, Vanessa’s drive to continue her professional development has never dwindled. She has taken courses in manual therapy, pain science, IMS/dry needling, concussion management, and vestibular (dizziness) rehabilitation. As a physiotherapist Vanessa strongly believes in taking the time to really listen to a patient’s story, addressing their worries or concerns, and understanding their values and goals.

Vanessa is thrilled to work among other health care practitioners who share her enthusiasm for clinical application of current research and the ever-evolving development of patient care.  She deeply values the philosophy of Tall Tree Integrated Health Centre, which fosters a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and on-going learning. Further, Vanessa is delighted to return to and practice in Cordova Bay- the neighbourhood she grew up in.

Outside of the clinic, Vanessa leads and active lifestyle- she can usually be found in the forest testing her bravery and skills on a mountain bike, trail running with her dog, or spending time with family and friends.
