Carman graduated from the UBC and has been practicing physiotherapy for 20 years in the area of orthopaedics. He is a clinical instructor in the UBC Masters of Physical Therapy Program and is involved in mentorship to physiotherapists pursuing their postgraduate orthopaedic certifications.
He has attained his Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual and Manipulative Therapists (FCAMPT) designation and has extensive experience treating spinal and peripheral joint conditions. His training in the Integrated Systems Model (ISM) and 10 years+ experience with Chan Gunn IMS needling helps identify and treat root causes of musculoskeletal/myofascial and neuropathic pain conditions respectively. He has training and experience with concussions & vestibular rehabilitation, and temporomandibular disorders (TMD).
Carman has always enjoyed an active lifestyle! He loves team sports and plays recreational ice hockey. He can be seen road cycling, and at one time even survived the North Shore Triple Crown. Carman has a Bike Fit Systems certification and integrates physiotherapy with his bike fits for injury prevention, comfort and optimal riding efficiency.
Outside the office: Carman is passionate about his sports, which include football/soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf and hockey. His interests include travel photography, scuba diving in warmer waters and studying the Chinese language. He has a working knowledge in Cantonese and Mandarin. His travel favorites include the Galapagos Islands, the Serengeti in Tanzania, and Cape Town.
