Carman is a University of British Columbia graduate and holds a degree in Biology and Physiotherapy (2004). He completed the post-graduate Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Therapy (2010) and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy (FCAMPT). He has the Chan Gunn IMS needling certification for treating chronic myofascial and neuropathic pain in the spine and extremities. He assists and mentors in manual therapy preparatory sessions for physiotherapists preparing for their orthopedic manual therapy levels.
Carman has a keen interest in treating shoulder, elbow and wrist injuries, knee injuries and surgeries, foot and ankle pain, neck and back spinal pain, chronic spinal nerve related pain, multiple trauma and chronic pain as a result of motor vehicle accidents. He believes in integrating spinal and peripheral joint mobilization and manipulation, IMS needling, kinesiotaping, and exercise prescription in a multimodal approach to treatment for success in healing and recovery.
Carman is originally from Saskatchewan and has lived in a few cities since making Vancouver his home. He worked in a sports physiotherapy clinic and treated an active population in Calgary (2004). He was also at the International SOS medical clinic in Beijing and practiced alongside doctors to assess and treat expatriates, travelers, and the local population (2008).
Outside the office: Carman is passionate about his sports, which include football/soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf and hockey. His interests include travel photography, scuba diving in warmer waters and studying the Chinese language. He has a working knowledge in Cantonese and Mandarin. His recent travel favorites include the Galapagos Islands, the Serengeti in Tanzania, and Cape Town.
