About me

Nicole Acerra, PhD, is a physiotherapist with a passion for neurological and vestibular rehabilitation.  She completed her psychology and physiotherapy degrees at Queen’s University, Canada, her doctoral studies at The University of Queensland, Australia and her post-doctoral research at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada.  Nicole has 20 years clinical experience treating patients in acute and outpatient settings across Canada, the US, and Australia. 

Nicole has taken over 50 post-graduate courses in neurology, vestibular rehabilitation, orthopaedics, and chronic pain management.  Nicole has a special interest in vestibular and facial rehabilitation, concussion management, and treating neurological disorders and chronic pain.  She enjoys working closely with patients and families to develop a customised treatment plan, which may include hands-on therapy, home-based exercises, management techniques, and coping skills. 

Dr. Acerra provides neurological and vestibular post-graduate physiotherapy courses and teaches at the University of British Columbia as an Assistant Clinical Professor.  Nicole has presented her research at World Congresses and published in journals such as Neurology.  She is an active member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA), the Vestibular Disorders Association (VEDA), Parkinson’s Canada, the Parkinson Society BC, and the BC Concussion Advisory Committee.  Nicole is the Neurosciences & Spine Clinical Resource Therapist for Vancouver Coastal Health and she provides private physiotherapy services.

When not at work, Nicole enjoys cycling and family time enjoying the North Shore mountains.
