Konstantinos Ikonomou

With a background and passion for elite sport, I'm currently honing my skills as a physiotherapist in private practice treating various sports and orthopedic injuries in Vancouver. Previously, I worked in London, UK, as a physiotherapist for Chelsea FC Academy, overseeing pitchside injuries, treatment protocols, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team (2018/2019 season). Concurrently, I treated and initiated pre-season screening for the GB Olympic diving team. Starting my career as a student trainer for the UFV men's soccer team, elite sport is my passion, and I'm keen to move into this space fulltime.

Prior to this, I completed my MSc in Sports Medicine Exercise & Health from University College of London (ranked 8th globally), FIFA Sports Medicine Diploma (2019), and worked across some of London's leading teaching hospitals. I have a BSc (hons) in Physiotherapy from Brunel University London, UK (2015), and a BSc of Human Kinetics from the University of Fraser Valley (2010).

Constructive for my career in elite sports, my research specialization is data and evidence-based treatments: I recently presented my preliminary results at the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine annual fall (2018) conference, where I focused on "The effects of fatigue on the vestibular oculomotor screen (VOMS) in male university rugby and sedentary participants" with Theo Farley as my clinical supervisor. I've applied this specialization practically, working in Vancouver with BC alpine ski and Olympic snowboarders in concussion/vestibular rehabilitation in the past.  

Now back in Vancouver, I'm keen to bring my international elite sports background and research experience to fruition as a sports physiotherapist.
