Marshall
Karla offers assessment and treatment for older adults. She has 15 years of experience working in the hospital, clinic and community settings focusing on this age group. Karla offers assessments of balance, strength, mobility and fall risk. She uses exercise and movement-based treatments to improve mobility, fitness and function. She has a additional training in assessing and treating movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, and fall prevention.
Education/training:
Karla graduated in 2004 from UBC. She completed a Master’s degree in 2014 – with a study looking at the effects of group-based exercise in older adults with Parkinson’s disease. Karla has completed training in the LVST BIG® and PWR!® training for people with Parkinson’s disease and the Fallproof™ Balance and Mobility Program. She has also completed training in Modern Management of Older Adults with a focus on progressive functional fitness and Persistent Pain , through the Institute of Clinical Excellence.
Karla currently works at the Seniors Outpatient Clinic at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.
