After finishing up my undergraduate degree at UBC, I had no idea what I wanted to be! So, like any recent graduate facing the world, I decided to plunge right in and travel. From South America to Europe to Asia, I had the good fortune to explore the world, gain valuable experiences, and work a number of jobs to perpetually feed my travel bug. When it was all said and done, I was still left with the task of figuring out what I was going to do with my life. I knew that I wanted to be in healthcare, but was uncertain as to what exactly that meant, until one day I stumbled upon a Physiotherapy clinic across the street from the gym I went to. I had no idea what Physiotherapy was, what it entailed, or who it was for. All I knew was that I was interested and wanted to learn more. The clinic owner was generous enough to offer me a volunteer position and introduce me to what would become my future profession. Throughout the whole process, the one thing that stood out for me was how involved Physiotherapists were in their clients' care. I loved the idea of being part of the process of a client's recovery and the reward it was to see the full impact of treatment from start to finish. From that point on in, the rest, as they say, is history!
