About me

Aart has been a Physiotherapist for over 30 years. He holds an advanced diploma in manual and manipulative therapy and has a keen interest in sports and orthopaedics. He is clinical faculty at UBC and teaches in the Masters of Physical Therapy program. Furthermore, Aart is the past Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Physiotherapy Association of BC and is the owner of Main Street Physiotherapy Clinic in Vancouver.

Aart has extensive experience working with athletes of all ages, elite and non-elite. He enjoys working with local sports teams and was involved with the Vancouver Giants major junior hockey team during their first two of years in Vancouver. He has worked internationally and speaks Dutch, German and Spanish.
When he is not coaching his son’s soccer and baseball he can be found pursuing one of his hobbies, Golf, baseball hockey or fishing. He is happily married and has two sons.

I grew up playing every sport imaginable. It was finally through competitive baseball that I ended up at the Physiotherapist hoping they could put my arm back together. They did all they could do and to extend my playing career, and I knew then that I wanted to become a Physiotherapist. I have been happily practicing now for the last 25 years. My true inspiration however, came much later during one of my clinical placements as a physiotherapy student.
