About me

I graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2010 with a Masters in Physical Therapy after completing a Bachelor Degree in Human Kinetics in 2006. As well as completing Level 3 post-graduate manual/orthopaedic therapy courses through the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s Orthopaedic Division, I am certified to perform acupuncture with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute.

Currently I am practicing at Comox Physiotherapy Clinic in Comox, BC on Vancouver Island, BC.

In 2011 I began Pelvic Floor physiotherapy for females and males. My knowledge and skill continues to expand in this area as with each new patient I am reminded how complex this area of practice is. My training has primarily been with Pelvic Health Solutions (Incontinence, Pelvic Pain, Prenatal,Pregnancy and Postpartum, The Female Athlete (Antony Lo), Gastrointestinal Disorders and the Pelvic Floor, Mobilization of Visceral Fascia Urinary System (Ramona Horton).

Further post-graduate training / courses completed:

Diane Lee: The Abdominal Wall After Pregnancy & Diastasis Rectus Abdominis (2019)

Hypopressives Level 1 & 2 (2016-17)

NOI EP3 Explain Pain (2016)

CranioSacral  Therapy 1 - Upledger Institute (2018)

Vestibular Rehab (Bernard Tonks)  (2019)

Myofascial Release - John Barnes MFR (2014-2016)

Concussion: Prevention, Detection and Management - MOOC offered jointly by Universities of Calgary and Laval (2019)

Julie Wiebe: ongoing online learning; Women’s Sports Medicine and Fitness Bundle B which includes Piston Science: Module 1, Female Athletes: Ready for Impact and Pelvic Floor Piston: Foundation for Fitness (2017)

Management of chronic pain has increased in my practice since 2014. Neil Pearson's Pain Care Yoga, Pain BC's Physiotherapy Pain Champion's Project, Pelvic Health Solutions' Developing a Toolkit for Persistent Pain as well as John Barnes Myofascial Release courses all contributed to my current treatment of a growing chronic pain practice.

Prior to my physical therapy training, I worked as a personal trainer with a degree in Human Kinetics, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Personal Trainer and BCRPA Weight Trainer. I also completed the OSTEOFIT courses at B.C. Women’s Hospital & Health Centre as well as a Cancer Exercise Therapist course and certification.

In my spare time, you'll find me running, hiking, cycling, kayaking or maintaining my strength in the gym.
