Janet Leung

Janet obtained her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (Honors) from Queen's University in Kingston, ON and became a registered physiotherapist in BC in 1999.  She was the Medallist in her graduating class.

Janet has extensive experience both in public and private practice.  She has worked previously at St. Paul's Hospital (inpatient care), BC Women's Hospital and private practices in Richmond and East Vancouver.  In 2009, she opened Cross Roads Physiotherapy and Massage Therapy located at West Broadway and Cambie in Vancouver.  Her vision was to open a multi-disciplinary clinic where patients can have their multiple rehabilitation needs addressed in one location.  Since 2009, the clinic has grown to a practice with four registered physiotherapists and four registered massage therapists.  The practice also provides active rehabilitation services for patients requiring supervised exercise training as part of their recovery.

Janet's practice philosophy involves using a combination of manual therapy, physical modalities, patient education and prescription of therapeutic exercises to help patients manage their muscle and/or joint dysfunctions.  She has a clinical interest in women's health.  She has additional training in and is experienced in treating: pelvic girdle pain related to pregnancy, prenatal fitness, pelvi-perineal pain, vulvodynia, provoked vestibulodynia, mixed urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse.  In 2003, Janet became certified in medical acupuncture through the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension's Certificate in Medical Acupuncture Program.  She uses acupuncture as a complimentary treatment to physical therapy to manage pain, stimulate healing and restore balance to the body.

In her spare time, Janet enjoys running, yoga, swimming and photography.  She is kept busy by her two daughters who teach her great lessons every day about how to remain curious and hopeful about the world.
