With Lyme disease being the most common tick-borne disease in BC and North America (1), it's important for healthcare providers of all kinds to recognize the symptoms their patients may display to potentially refer them to the appropriate practitioner, for diagnosis and treatment.

This article provides physiotherapists with an overview of Lyme disease (incidence, signs and symptoms, testing, treatment, and outcomes), and also provides guidance as to when a clinician should be suspicious of Lyme disease and seek a referral.

This open-access article, published by Oxford University Press on behalf of the American Physical Therapy Association, can be viewed here.
