July 2023

Dear Members,

Here are some updates regarding new treatment plans and opportunities for participation in the Informed Care Framework.

New Treatment Plans:

The new treatment plans have been implemented and went live on June 10, 2023. These plans offer three distinct templates for physical modalities, mental health, and occupational therapists. The templates are designed with drop-down menus, check boxes, and pop-up boxes, reducing the reliance on open text boxes and significantly decreasing the time required for completion.

To streamline the submission process and ensure timely responses from our staff, we strongly encourage members to submit treatment plans through the Health Care Provider Inquiry and Reporting (HCPIR) or the Health Care Provider Portal (HCPP). Submitting plans manually via email will result in a significant processing delay of up to 20 business days, except in cases where HCPIR or HCPP experiences a service outage.

Treatment Plan templates remain open in HCPIR or HCPP for up to two hours before timing out.
The HCPIR does not require a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Detailed guides are available for various disciplines:

Physical modalities (Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy),

Mental health (Counselling, Psychology),

Occupational therapy.

Informed Care Framework – Invitation to Participate in Working Groups:
The new Informed Care Framework, an initiative by ICBC aimed at ensuring consistent and high-quality care for all injured ICBC customers across British Columbia. To shape this framework effectively, we need the expertise and voices of our community members at the table. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the design principles that will outline high-value care and the use of evidence in ICBC recovery programs.

As health care providers, you have the chance to apply for participation in the research advisory board, which will contribute to the development of care expectations and guidelines. Alternatively, you can join the implementation committee, which will support the implementation of these guidelines. Full details regarding these working groups can be found in the Informed Care Framework.

To apply, please email Cameron Massullo and include information on how you meet the required criteria.

Health Care Inquiry Unit (HCIU):
The Health Care Inquiry Unit (HCIU) is our dedicated team available to provide support to health care providers. You can reach them from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm.
