The Doctors of BC held their flagship event, 'Burnaby Walk with your Doc', and as a partner of the initiative, the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC) is pleased to report on its success.

The event took place on May 6th, 2023, at Confederation Park in Burnaby. PABC member Kim Hall joined BC doctors and led warm-up exercises, walking alongside community members, the Mayor of Burnaby Mike Hurley and colleagues to promote the benefits of physical activity and physiotherapy.

The turnout was impressive, with people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to engage in healthy activities and interact with healthcare providers. The atmosphere was lively and energetic, with participants enjoying the opportunity to get outdoors, connect with others, and improve their physical and mental health.

Collaboration between doctors and physiotherapists was a highlight of the event. PABC members had the chance to work with doctors to provide guidance on safe and effective physical activity and to promote the importance of physiotherapy in maintaining optimal physical function and preventing injury.

The Walk With Your Doc campaign provides an excellent opportunity for healthcare providers to connect with patients and community members in a non-clinical setting, and this year's event was no exception. PABC Staff and Members interacted with participants, answering questions and offering advice on how to incorporate physical activity into daily life.

The Walk With Your Doc event in Burnaby was a success with special thanks to Patrick Higgins from Doctors of BC, Leona Cullen from Burnaby Division of Family Practice, Pamela Malicki from City of Burnaby for their major contributions.

PABC looks forward to participating in other walks around the Province. We remain committed to promoting the benefits of physiotherapy and physical activity to communities across British Columbia.
