Dear Members,
An Upcoming event that may be of interest; BC Brain Wellness Program and Dr. Silke Appel-Cresswell will be hosting the highly anticipated World Brain Day on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023, in Vancouver, BC.
The theme chosen by the World Federation of Neurology: "Brain Health and Disability: Leave No One Behind".
World Brain Day focuses on five crucial areas: prevention, awareness, access, education, and advocacy.
An invitation has been extended to Members to join the BC Brain Wellness Program,
located at 2215 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver, BC, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. for an enlightening session featuring expert speakers who will address these areas from diverse perspectives.
The panel of speakers for the event:

2. Darius Darabi - Education
3. Hanna Turcotte - Education
4. Dr. Julia Schmidt - Awareness
5. Rebecca Tsow - Awareness
6. Sharareh Saremi - Access & Advocacy
- Dr. Silke Appel-Cresswell, an exceptional movement disorder neurologist and Associate Professor at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, will provide invaluable insights into prevention strategies.
- Darius Darabi and Hanna Turcotte will share their expertise in the field of education.
- Dr. Julia Schmidt, an esteemed Assistant Professor in Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, will enlighten us on creating awareness.
- Rebecca Tsow, a graduate of UBC and current Masters in Physical Therapy student, will contribute her expertise to the discussion on life after brain injury.
- Sharareh Saremi, the Program Manager of the Advocacy Access Program at Disability Alliance BC, will shed light on access and advocacy.
