Lynda is a UK trained physiotherapist (Bristol, 1983) with extensive clinical experience and ongoing post-graduate education in orthopaedics, Women’s Health issues and pelvic floor rehabilitation for both women and men. I am a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy, certified Gunn IMS (intra-muscular stimulation) Practitioner and certified Röst therapist.
Over the past 15+ years, I have pursued my interest in Women’s Health and Pelvic Health physiotherapy: this includes rehabilitation to address incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain and for osteoporosis. For women who are pregnant, and new Mothers, I am trained in the management of Diastasis of Rectus Abdominis (DRA) and use Röst therapy for the treatment of pelvic girdle pain (sacro-iliac, symphysis pubis pain) and coccydynia (tail bone pain). I occasionally work (as vacation relief) in both the continence and pelvic pain clinics at BC Women’s Hospital.
My treatment approach uses a combination of exercise therapy, manual therapy, Gunn IMS, pain management techniques, Real Time Ultrasound Imaging (evaluation and biofeedback for the abdominals and lumbo-pelvic area) and postural advice. I encourage my patients to participate in appropriate home exercises, in conjunction with treatment, to help you achieve your personal functional goals: enabling you to resume your regular activities at home and work, participate in sports, and manage concerns related to personal aspects of your bladder, bowel and/or sexual health.
I maintain a keen interest in the physiotherapy profession; am a member of the Women’s Health physiotherapy interest group and involved in Committee work with the College of Physical Therapists of BC.
