The Peter Huijbregts Memorial Award

Applications for the 2024 Awards Season will open on January 11, 2024.

The Peter Huijbregts Memorial Award

Spirit of the Award

This award is in memory of Peter Huijbregts, a Victoria Physiotherapist who was well known for his unwavering dedication to all aspects of his work.

His commitment to both learning and teaching was unsurpassed. Peter published over 40 papers, lectured and taught university internationally, wrote chapters in well-known physiotherapy texts, and served as editor of the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy, all while maintaining his own orthopedic practice. His long waiting list of patients was a testament to the quality and compassionate nature of his care.

Clinicians frequently looked to Peter for mentorship; he always made time to answer questions and engage in thoughtful discussion regarding physiotherapy.

Peter passed away suddenly in November 2010 at the age of 44. This loss was felt tremendously by many in our industry.

This award is a legacy to Peter’s significant contribution to the physiotherapy profession both locally and internationally through his teaching and research. It recognizes the same passion for knowledge, education, and research as a PABC member. We would like to thank Clover Hills Rehabilitation for providing the funding to continue this award.
