About me

Anika is a physiotherapist who grew up in Quebec where she graduated from the faculty of Medicine at McGill University with a Master of Physical Therapy. Growing up in a German household with three siblings, she learned to speak German, French as well as English and enjoys practicing her Spanish, which she learned while volunteering at a hospital in Mexico City in 2009. Anika played many competitive sports before finding her passion in volleyball, playing as a middle hitter for a team in Northern Germany during a high school year and being captain of the volleyball team during her years in Junior College.

Anika graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Therapy in 2011. Having worked a with multiple athletic teams such as the Female Hockey Team of McGill University she has a lot of experience in the prevention and management of sports injuries as well as appropriate return to play planning. After moving to Nanaimo in 2015, Anika pursued her studies and completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy through the Evidence in Motion Institute.

Having worked as a certified massage therapist for five years, her treatments incorporate an essential amount of manual therapy to treat musculoskeletal conditions. Some techniques used during a typical physiotherapy appointment may also include joint mobilizations, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilizations, exercise prescription, K-Taping, and therapeutic modalities as well as Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) / Dry Needling.

On weekends, Anika enjoys hiking the trails, mountains, lakes & beaches Vancouver Island has to offer. In the summer of 2017, she hiked the West Coast trail with her Father, which was an experience of a lifetime. Growing up in a multi-cultural city such as Montreal and loving to travel, all types of cuisine fascinate Anika. She is passionate about cooking, loves trying new recipes complimenting it with the perfect pairing wine.
