Dr Tommy Gerschman received his MD from the University of British Columbia and is a practicing Pediatric Rheumatologist (FRCPC). He holds an MSc with Distinction in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health from the University College of London (UK). Dr Gerschman is the Chair of the Doctors of BC Athletics and Recreation Committee and is the former Medical Director at Fortius Sport & Health. He collaborates with the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit on projects such as Active & Safe, an injury prevention resource site, and SHRed, a national youth concussion study. He is a collaborator with the team at Calgary’s Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre. Clinically, Dr Gerschman works in North Vancouver (QubeCore Sports & Rehab) and Burnaby as a specialist consultant in pediatric rheumatology and sport and exercise injuries in childhood and adolescence. He works with a wide range of children, including recreational and elite athletes (and dancers). He also enjoys promoting physical activity and sport involvement for children with chronic diseases, such as Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. He enjoys working and learning from multiple teams of physiotherapists both locally and across the province.
