I am currently co-owner of South Cowichan Physiotherapy, along with my business partner Vince Avery. Together, we help to manage, grow, and promote our great healthcare clinic.
I earned my Master's degree in physiotherapy at the University of Toronto. I have taken post-graduate courses with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute to attain certification in acupuncture. I am also fully certified in Gunn IMS. I have done continuing education in manual therapy with the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and attained level 5 certification. I incorporate exercise heavily into my treatment plan as I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
I have worked as a physiotherapist on Vancouver Island since 2009. I have experience working with a variety of individuals, from professional and amateur athletes, to individuals recovering from workplace injuries and motor vehicle accidents. Most recently, I was the head therapist for the Victoria Shamrocks Junior A Lacrosse Team in 2010. I have also organized the physiotherapy services for the Toronto Marathon in 2007 and 2008. Furthermore, I have experience working at the national track and field championships, national figure skating championships and with the Special Olympics. My special areas of interest are: persistent back and neck pain, TMJ pain and sports injuries.
I am also very involved with the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC). I am currently the president of the PABC and prior to this served for several years on the board of directors and various other committees.
I am an avid golfer and also enjoy surfing, skiing and rock climbing with my wife Janet and my son Owen. When we are not outdoors being active, you can probably find us walking or biking with our Duck Tolling Retriever, Rory.
