2) The Thoracic Region from A-Z (Annulus to Z-Joints) (October 27, 2019)

Both courses are evidence based, practically focused, hands on courses that are applicable “Monday morning” in the clinic. They use practical sessions, lectures, group work, research discussions, videos, and clinical reasoning to synthesize various Physiotherapy approaches. They are appropriate for all levels of clinicians from new grad to experienced practitioners.

Objectives

1) Treatment Based Classification for LBP

Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

1. Perform a concise and thorough evaluation on a patient with low back pain.

2. Correctly apply the Treatment-Based Classification Approach to patients with low back pain.

3. Identify which patients will most likely benefit from manual therapy, spinal stabilization, directionally specific exercise or traction treatment based on current literature.

4. Confidently and competently perform manual therapy for the patient with low back pain.

5. Identify and prescribe appropriate exercises to address common impairments.

6. Discuss current evidence-based best practice patterns for the treatment of low back pain.

7. Discuss and appreciate the impact of biopsychosocial and patient autonomy related factors.

2) Thoracic Spine from A-Z

Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

1. Perform a concise and thorough evaluation of the thoracic spine.

2. Identify which patients will most likely benefit from specific interventions based on current literature.

3. Confidently and competently perform manual therapy for the patient with thoracic dysfunction.

4. Identify and prescribe appropriate exercises to address common impairments.

5. Understand the role of the thoracic spine in relation to impairments of the upper and lower quadrants.
