The first two of three reports by The Conference Board of Canada were released on March 28th, 2017, highlighting the shortage of physiotherapists across Canada. As we all work together to improve our healthcare system, these reports show the increasing demand for physiotherapy and the value that it can bring to all Canadians. They also outline some of the gaps that exist.

BC’s physiotherapists are dedicated to working with the province and other health professionals in finding new ways to continuously improve our outstanding healthcare system, especially in regards to increasing the number of and access to physiotherapists in Primary and Rural Care. The reports released by the Conference Board of Canada provide valuable data and recommendations as to how we may accomplish our goals by working together.

The next Conference Board of Canada report will focus on physiotherapy for the seniors’ population.
