Dr. Kristian Thorborg PT PhD

Kristian Thorborg is an Associate Professor at Copenhagen University. He is currently employed as senior researcher at the Sports Orthopedic Research Center – Copenhagen (SORC-C), and the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Research – Copenhagen (PMR-C) programme. Both centers/programmes are part of the Copenhagen - International Olympic Committee (IOC) - Research Centre in Injury and Illness Prevention. Kristian is a Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy since 2004, with more than 20 years of clinical experience within sports and orthopedic injury prevention, assessment and treatment. Kristian Thorborg has published more than 145 peer-reviewed articlesand 25 book chapters. His main research area is prevention, assessment and treatment of sports and orthopedic injuries. He has conducted > 10 prospective studies (Level 2a evidence); > 10 randomised controlled trials (Level 1b evidence) and > 10 systematic reviews (Level 1a evidence) and has received 12 prizes/awards for scientific contributions in his field. Kristian Thorborg was the Editor in Chief for the Danish Journal of Sports Medicine from 2007-10 and is former board member of the Research Fund for Danish Physiotherapists, and Chairman for the Revision of National Clinical Specialization in Physiotherapy in Denmark from 2010-14. Furthermore, he was also the Chairman for Sportskongres (Scandinavian Congress on Science and Medicine in Sport) in 2015 and 2017. Currently, Kristian is the Vice-president of the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy (IFSPT), and the President-elect from October 2019. Course Description
This one day course will provide a simple foundation for effective, evidence-based assessment and management of hip and groin injuries, that can be easily implemented in clinical practice when working with athletes with hip and groin pain. Everything from assessment, diagnosis & classification of different clinical entities and their management will be covered. Practical sessions will ensure that participants leave the course with hands on assessment and treatment skills based upon advanced clinical reasoning, in relation to differential diagnosis, specific sports and gender.

  • Clinical examination and diagnostic imaging (lecture and demonstration)
  • Examination and assessment techniques (practical workshop)
