Home study unit prior to course (reading material)

Covers Clean Needle Technique, Precautions and Contraindications, Measurement System, Types of Acupuncture Points and Practical Needling of 15 Acupuncture Points.  Discussion of theory and history of various types of dry needling.

NOTE: Introduction is essential for all other acupuncture/dry needling courses in no previous acupuncture or dry needling course has been taken

 Course manuals and handouts are included in the course cost for all courses.

A free box of needles is provided to students taking the Introduction course.

Cost is $250.

Acupuncture & Dry Needling of the Upper Extremity

Saturday June 9, 2018

9am to 5pm

Includes Electro-Acupuncture, Treatment for Adhesive Capsulitis, Lateral Epicondylitis and De Quervain’s Syndrome

(approximately 20 acupuncture points taught throughout the day),

Motor Point Dry Needling of the following muscles:

Trapezius (upper, middle and lower fibres)

Deltoid (anterior, middle and posterior fibres)

Insfraspinatus (superior and inferior points)


Teres Minor

Teres Major

Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus

Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis

Extensor Digitorum Communis

Abductor Pollicis Longus

Extensor Pollicis Brevis

Acupuncture & Dry Needling of the Cervical Thoracic Region

Sunday June 10, 2018

9am to 5pm

Covers Therapeutic Cupping Therapy, treatment for Cervical Radiculopathy, Whiplash, Scapular Pain and many more conditions.

Motor Point Dry Needling of many muscles including Trapezius, Latissimus Dorsi, Rhomboid Major/Minor and many more. 


NOTE: Courses include discussion of both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Perspectives.  All course manuals cover an evidence based clinical approach to care and include associated references. Also, all courses have both a practical and theoretical written testing component.

Cost is $350

 Prerequisite:  One previous acupuncture course with practical component.

 Through completion of these courses, participants will:

  • Acquire knowledge of physiology of dry needling and palpation of important landmarks for locating acupuncture and motor point dry needling points.
  • Acquire an understanding of various wave forms used with an electroacupunctoscope
  • Acquire knowledge of indications and contraindications and techniques for therapeutic cupping
  • Perform an evaluation of appropriateness before considering an acupuncture or dry needling treatment
  • Establish and perform a treatment plan and its progression for a variety of conditions which considers amount and location of needles and other forms of treatment
  • Become confident in needling all the acupuncture and motor points learned and be fully aware of all safety issues that relate to needling
  • Become confident dealing with unexpected events and have a plan to handle all adverse events
  • Be able to needle all points learned with 100% safety

Bio: Tom Kiroplis has taught for several years for the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Meridian Health Education and Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute (APTEI). He currently teaches in ON, NL, NB, AB and BC.  In addition, Tom is a successful co-owner of three busy physiotherapy and acupuncture clinics.
